Manchester United records broken are not all good

Unhappy David Moyes

David Moyes scratching his head

It’s been difficult to watch the ‘fall’ of ManU’s records lately. Usually the ones falling are all to the good, but under Moyes’ start as the new manager, they haven’t been.

Most recently were the ones to fall after play against Swansea and Sunderland. ManU hadn’t lost to Swansea at Old Trafford in the FA Cup for 10 tries until they bounced ManU out with a 2-1 victory.  Similarly, Sunderland hadn’t faired well against ManU in 20 attempts, until beating them 2-1 last week in the first of two matches in the Capital One Cup Semi-final.

While it’s true the players have to step up, and with a winning history and still so many of the players returning from  last year, you would think it’s ingrained. However, something is different about their play and the biggest single factor is David Moyes.

Now, we are just coming after the 2-0 win over Swansea this past weekend in league play, however, prior to that he sounded downright perplexed as to what to do to get a win.  I’m not overly confident he can right the ship enough and motivate the players to get a 4th,  never mind a higher position in the table.  … I hope he proves me wrong!

Update: Jan 19: Eto’o records a hat trick against ManU – the first hat trick scored against ManU since 1954.
