Scottish Prem Done – Celtic Declared Champions

Yesterday the Scottish Premier Football League announced the decision to end the season. Celtic, with a 13 point lead and 8 games to play were declared champions. It is their 8th consecutive championship.

The Hearts were relegated, needing only 4 points and are not terribly happy about the situation. In their official statement to fans they noted; ” . . . we don’t believe it is right that any club should be unfairly penalised because of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was previously indicated that league reconstruction would not generate enough support to pass a vote between member clubs.  In recent days a number of positive talks have been held with both the SPFL and member clubs and this topic is currently being revisited. “

Chair Ann Budge was given approval to work on a proposal for temporary league reconstruction, which would involve expanding the top flight, so the Hearts are encouranged.

Don’t hold your breath Hearts fans.
