Giggs debuts winning squad

Interim manager Ryan Giggs, a well-known and beloved figure at Old Trafford, brought in a convincing 4-0 win as interim manager following the firing of David Moyes.  The scoring was opened in the 41st minute after Rooney scored from the spot after Danny Welbeck was brought down in the box.  While it gave Manchester United the go ahead at the half, Norwich City had played well for 45 minutes.  Norwich keeper, John Ruddy, and his back line defended well and United looked a bit tentative.

I think we’d all like to know what Ryan Giggs’ half time talk was, as the team came out with much more energy and creativity in the second half. Valencia was the Right Back and Kagawa the left in front of Evra.  This provided wide play and crosses, Kagawa could enter the mix in front of the goal and Evra provided service from the left.  Seriously, the only player I would have swapped to start with was Cleverly.

Rooney celebratesThe second goal was a ‘bea-u-ty’ sent into the far post by Rooney.  Then came the first of three substituions at the 60 minute mark.  All the substitutions in the second half were positive. Juan Mata entered  the game for Welbeck and looked on top of his game. Something we haven’t been seeing since he was acquired. He accounted for the next two goals. He finished a cross from Phil Jones and headed home another ball by Valencia.

The fans went home happy winners today; lots to smile and cheer about.  Some might say, this should have been an expected result against struggling Norwich City.  However, as fans will attest, no results have been a sure thing, even against the bottom teams.  So today’s result was a very good one.  Four goals and a clean sheet.

As for Ryan Giggs, it was a fantastic start, and hopefully what we’ll see to finish out this otherwise, dismal, season.
